Ernest Louis Schwartz
Ernest Louis Schwartz 1896-1948
Ernest Schwartz is the fourth child (the second to live past infancy) of Joseph and Sophie (Loika) Schwartz. He was born September 13, 1896, at the Matula farm near Moravia, Texas.
In August 1919, Ernest and about 20 others left Moravia to head maize in the Runnels County area. This move was the first of the 9 children to migrate to west Texas.
Our home
In 1925, Ernest and Ida bought 200 acres of raw pastureland near Fairview, Texas. In September 1925, Ernest began building a three-room house with an upstairs. Grandpa Joseph Schwartz helped with the carpentry work during his stay with his son Otto in the nearby Wilde house. This house is still a part of the house where Erwin and Gloria, their children and Ida lived. It was enlarged with new additions until it looks as it does today. It was 100 years old in 2025.
